Andrew,
Good to talk to you yesterday, and to hear that the guiding business is doing well.
After leaving Bridgewater, I went to Dunolly and made my base at the caravan park, very friendly people there.
Most of my fossicking was in the Dunolly area, I couldn't get over the size of the areas available for fossicking, in the week I spent in the Dunolly area, I didn't see anyone else in the bush.
I followed your advice, and purchased a small mono Nugget Finder coil, with which I found all my gold, whilst in Victoria.
The best piece I found was an 11 gm piece, with numerous smaller pieces. From pin head size, to 0.5 gm. I stopped at Heathcoat for a couple of days on my way home, and picked up a half gram mer there also.
Since being home, I have been out to my local spot and have picked up 5 pieces, 3 at 0.5 gm, 1 at 0.7 gm, and one at 1.2 gm. A couple were found with the small Nugget finger, the others were found with my 17" x 10" DD Pro. Coil Tek coil.
As requested, I have included a couple of photos of the gold I have found since my day with Golden Triangle Prospecting Tours. The large piece is the 11 gram mer.
Not included in the photo are the 7 very small pieces' found, as I have had a small disaster with them. I had a fair bit of fine gold I had panned over the years, so I thought I would melt all the fine gold with the smaller pieces I had detected, I heated them all up with oxy in a steel ladle, however' got the ladle a bit too hot, now I have a gold plated ladle, which makes for a good discussion piece. Gold sticks to hot steel very well.
As you will no doubt work out, the gold in the photos is enlarged a bit, but it looks good anyway. Note the small piece the shape of Tasmania, this weighs 0.5 gm, a~d was the first piece' found back here.
Hope to catch up with you again one day. ( I mentioned your name a bit down there and didn't have any doors slammed in my face ).
Thanks again for the good day, happy policing and prospecting.
Regards,
Rex Whitehead
